This webpage calculates your course grade; need to enable javascript to use this program.  Enter:

• a description of the source of points (optional); for clarity, recommend enter a single category score per row
• points earned & points possible in the proper category (i.e. cw / hw, lab, or exams)
• max # GradePoints, as a decimal number, e.g. if this category is 40% of your grade, enter "40" [see the class syllabus for its value]

then press "calculate grade" button at the bottom of the table. example of grade calculation.  alternatively, download & use MS Excel 2003 worksheet.

comments:

• combine multiple entries as a single entry, when you have more than 10 entries in a specific category
• for extra credit points, enter the # points earned & leave the # points possible as zero
• calculations at this website may differ from my gradebook due to "rounding"
• program does not check for invalid data entry; thus invalid data entry produces incorrect output
• to monitor your grade, save program - may be used off-line; there are no cookies in this program, so you'll need to reenter your scores.  to minimize re-entering data, print prior session's output then simply enter its total points earned / possible in each category, followed by the new entries.
• "reset" button use is optional
• use landscape orientation for printing (to ensure single line column title in output)
• for grade calculation simulation:
  • enter hypothetical # points earned and # points possible in specific category
  • enter max # GradePoints (as needed)
  • press:  "calculate grade "
  • repeat
